All dogs born and surviving
from your litter are required to be registered with the State Controlling
Body of the state that you live in (where you should hold your prefix).
There are currently
two types of register available to breeders of pure bred dogs.
MAIN REGISTER ...
All pups registered on the Main Register can be bred from,
shown and participate in all sporting events such as agility and
obedience. All dogs conforming well to the breed standard,
are healthy and have no temperament problems should be wherever
possible on the main register unless the breeder has some reason
to prevent them ever being bred from themselves.
LIMITED
REGISTER ...
All dogs on the limited register are restricted to sporting
events only OR if neutered to sporting events and neutered show
classes. Dogs that are clearly not of the breed standard or
have any health problems that may be passed on should be on the
Limited Register. In the event that their conformation improves
then the breeder may shift them to the Main Register.
It
is the responsibility of the breeder to ensure that the purchaser
fully understands the limitations of a “Limited Register” dog.
It is your best interests to have the purchaser sign a contract
saying that they understand that as their dog is on the Limited
Register it can’t be bred from or shown unless neutered.
